Privacy statement 

Fiona Franklin counselling & psychotherapy is committed to complying with the terms of the general data protection regulation made on 25th May 2018, and to the responsible and secure use of your data in order to provide counselling services.  The purpose of this statement is to let you know what personal information I collect and hold, why I collect this data, how long it is kept and your rights over your personal data.   Fiona Franklin counselling & psychotherapy is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), reference A8218693.  

1. Information about you
1.1   I collect personal information from you when you enquire about my counselling service in order to set up an initial appointment.  This information includes contact details, your availability and other relevant personal information.  When you finish counselling, all data regarding you is stored securely for seven years and is then destroyed.  

2.  My use of your information
1.2  Your personal information will be used only with you to provide information to you pertaining to the counselling service.  I do not share information about you with other service or organisation without your knowledge and permission.  However, there are some exceptions to this, such as if there is a legal requirement, a risk identified to either yourself or a third party, a perceived child or safeguarding risk, or yours/and or a third party involvement in acts of terrorism.  

3. Security
3.1  I will take all reasonable precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of personal information about you.  
3.2  Communications in connection with this service may be sent by email and phone, for ease of use and compatibility communication will not be sent in a encrypted form unless you require it and give us permission to communicate with you in this way,  E-mail, unless encrypted, is not a fully secure means of communication.  Whilst I endeavour to keep my systems and communication protected against viruses and harmful effects, I cannot bear all responsibility for communication being virus free.

4. Your rights over your personal data
4.1. If you would like to see the information that I had about you, or would like to correct, update or delete any records, please contact me by email: fionaselby@hotmail.co.uk.  Please also feel free to raise any concerns that you have about my use of your personal information with me.  I will do my utmost to resolve any concerns you have.  However, if you feel that this is not to you satisfaction, you may also contact the information commissioner directly.
